"Where's my other shoe", "I spilled", "I don't like this shirt", "My tummy hurts".....
I called it the morning scramble and it was inevitable regardless of how much we planned the night or even the week before. Kevin was either out of town for work or up and out the door before the sun came up. Meanwhile I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to convince the kids (and myself) that going to school was the best thing for them. Without a doubt several somethings would always come up ensuring chaos. An untimely bathroom emergency as we're trying to run out the door or a missing shoe. You name it, it probably happened.
Most mornings I dropped the two bigs off at school just as the bell was ringing, dropped the little off with Grandma and finally was off to work for a few hours before it was time to pick everyone up. The daily grind of work/school, homework, cooking, eating, cleaning and sleeping on repeat was getting old. It really wasn't bad at all. It just was.
Were we really giving our kiddos the best life there was to offer? Sure they were getting an education, participating in sports and building friendships. Sure they have a loving, supportive and involved extended family. But was that enough? When does the cycle of the day-to-day "get through one day just to move on to the next day" end? When do we really get to live life and experience as a family all that the world has to offer? We're realistic enough to know that we will never be able to afford to take our family of five on international vacations. We also know we aren't guaranteed to see tomorrow. So what do we do? How do we break the cycle? Well, lucky for us, we are dreamers with a pinch of crazy. This is where our adventures begin. Where we go from ordinary to extraordinary. Welcome to our life... The Sinneman Life!
