Arches National Park February 7, 2020

Updated: Sep 30, 2020

Our family’s fifth stop in our little tour was Arches National Park.

We had several reasons that we were really looking forward to visiting Arches. The first being that Emmylou chose to do her school project on this National Park in Utah so we knew quite a bit about it going in and had a few landmarks in mind to see. Secondly, we had a hotel room booked for this location to give us a little break from the cold nights of winter camping. (Can you say clean laundry and free breakfast)?! We stayed at the Aarchway Inn located in Moab where we scored an amazing deal of $52 per night. THAT is affordable family vacation pricing for a hotel! We were super impressed by the Aarchway Inn, it’s affordability, friendliness of staff and all the amenities it had to offer. Now, I'm sure the summer pricing is significantly higher, but even so, I would highly recommend Aarchway Inn to anyone traveling to Moab. (No, we are not getting any money from them for this recommendation).

Anyways, back to Arches. We made it to the park on February 7th after a day of rest. We lucked out with an abnormally high temp of 54 degrees. We really wanted to hike the Fiery Furnace and Delicate Arch trails, but the first was closed and the other we were told was too icy and dangerous for kids that day. We settled for taking the trail to view the Delicate Arch from afar as it was a must see on out list. It was

a quick little walk, under a mile long.

From there we were ready to see some arches up close so we headed over to the North and South Windows Trail. While following this trail we stumbled upon a primitive trail know as The Spectacles. Off-roading is way more fun, when allowed (we always #RecreateResponsibly), so of course that’s the path we took since it was an option. We enjoyed exploring the terrain as we made our way around. Standing beneath these massive arches is definitely a rewarding experience, but taking in the #beautiful view of everything around you may be even more so.

Our final two stops were taken by car. First we had to see the famous Balanced Rock. It's a pretty spectacular site and gets your wheels turning. Final stop in this park for us was the Garden of Eden which is described as a whimsical and intriguing area of pinnacles and walls. Whimsical and intriguing seems to be a fitting description for our Eden as well.

After tiring out the kids and filling up all of our memory cards due to the endless opportunity to capture stunning #NaturePhotography, it was back to the hotel for us. We were looking forward to a warm and relaxing night in our hotel room.
